Getting Rid of a Turkey Neck

Posted on March 17, 2014 by Dr. Ringler

Turkey NeckA very common complaint we hear from men and women is that they hate their neck, and more specifically, they want to get rid of their “turkey neck.”  It isn’t surprising given that the skin on the neck is one of the first to show signs of aging.  Frequently when we apply sunscreen, the exposed area of the neck is neglected.  It is fairly apparent to many people who notice the skin under their chin looks pretty good, while the skin at the bottom of their neck looks saggy, wrinkled or bumpy.

Some people have a genetic predisposition toward a sagging neck, but many people don’t begin to notice the…

Maintaining Facelift Results

Posted on February 21, 2014 by Dr. Ringler

Maintaining your FaceliftWhen my patients invest in a surgical facelift, it is not surprising that they want their results to be maintained for as long as possible.  So what’s the secret to keeping your facelift looking fresh and your appearance more youthful?

The number one thing that helps maintain that youthful appearance is taking great care of your skin.  Maintaining your skin from the inside out is a great way to keep your skin looking fresh.  A diet that includes fresh fish, chicken, nuts, vegetables and fruits will provide you with a healthy glow. Keeping well hydrated is also important for helping…

French Women Do Get Facelifts

Posted on January 14, 2014 by Dr. Ringler

shutterstock18046165.jpg_595-300x300There is a new book out by Mireille Guiliano called, French Women Don’t Get Facelifts; The Secret of Aging with Style and Attitude. While no one will deny that aging gracefully and with a good attitude and great style is desirable, the fact is, French women do get facelifts.  While they may be less open about the fact than their American counterparts, they do, and have been, getting facelifts along with many other types of plastic surgery for decades.

I have been practicing plastic surgery for over thirty years, and one of my areas of specialization is plastic surgery of the face.  Often the main concerns I hear from men and…

Facial Rejuvenation – So Many Options!

Posted on October 18, 2013 by Dr. Ringler

When it comes to choosing a plastic surgeon or procedure for your facial rejuvenation, the choices can be overwhelming.  Who is qualified to perform facelifts?  What are the differences between traditional facelift and a MACS lift?  What is a Lifestyle Lift?  Do the non-surgical options like Ultherapy and Exilis do the same thing?  What is a liquid facelift?  Which procedures provide the longest lasting results? What are the prices of the various procedures?

It would be a very long blog to answer all of the questions listed above, and often the answers will be different…

Help for “Bitchy Resting Face”

Posted on July 19, 2013 by Dr. Ringler

A funny YouTube video that has gone viral talks about having a “bitchy resting face”. The woman in the video consistently has people asking her if something is wrong because they think she is in a bad mood.  She isn’t.  As she says, she just has a “bitchy resting face.”  Apparently she is not alone.

Although partially genetic, there are some changes that occur to the face over time that can make you look angry or overly concerned even when you’re not.  Repeated furrowing of the brow can cause a deep wrinkle between the eyebrows.  This is something can easily be treated in about 15 minutes with…

Lifestyle Lift and Other Marketing Scams

Posted on June 27, 2013 by Dr. Ringler

I’m sure you’ve seen the ads on TV that look too good to be true. A facelift using a “LifeStyle Lift” without anesthesia, no downtime and the Before and After  pictures of a model who looks unbelievable. Then there are the reviews from all of the happy patients. Small wonder that we frequently get calls from prospective patients looking for similar results and wondering whether we perform the LifeStyle Lift at our office.  We don’t.

LifeStyle Lift is a business, marketing scheme that allows physicians, not necessarily board certified plastic surgeons, to get referrals based on a kick-back to the company for their broad and deceptive advertising campaign. The LifeStyle Lift…

Discount Plastic Surgery

Posted on June 4, 2013 by Dr. Ringler

If you’ve ever been tempted to respond to one of those “two breast implants for the price of one” type promotions or travel vacations offering plastic surgery for less, be careful. It is a very rare reputable, board certified plastic surgeon who will offer surgical procedures at a discount to just anyone responding to an ad in the paper or magazine. This is truly a case of “buyer beware” when you see such types of promotions.

What is the problem with wanting to save a little money on a cosmetic surgery procedure? First of all, not everyone seeing an ad is a good surgical candidate. Only after a complete…

Do You Hate Your Neck?

Posted on May 20, 2013 by Dr. Ringler

Beautiful NeckIf you find yourself hating your neck as you’ve gotten older, you are not alone. The neck is a body part that few people younger than 30 or 40 spend much time thinking about, and yet for those 45 and over, there may be a noticeable difference in the quality, and sometimes quantity, of skin on the neck. Our neck is often neglected when we apply sunscreen or skincare products.

Fortunately, there are solutions to the problem of “turkey neck” or necks that have begun to lose some elasticity, firmness and skin tone. Turtlenecks and scarves are not the only answer to the problem.  Hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and fine lines…

Kate Middleton’s Nose

Posted on March 14, 2013 by Dr. Ringler

For those going into a plastic surgery office seeking Kate Middleton’s perfect nose, there is some disappointing news.  Even if a plastic surgeon were able to sculpt Kate Middleton’s nose on your face, he or she would be doing you a huge disservice. Why?  Because, every other aspect of your face is unique to you.  Her nose on your face is not going to look “perfect” unless you share a similar facial structure and features.

Those who seek a rhinoplasty, or nose job, typically have concerns about the size of the nose being too big or disproportionate to the rest of the face, a deviated septum, which causes difficulty with breathing,…

Operation Smile – 30 Years of Creating Smiles

Posted on September 15, 2012 by Dr. Ringler

“Operation Smile is an international children’s medical charity that heals children’s smiles, forever changing their lives.” The organization that was started by Dr. Bill Magee and his wife Kathy over 30 years ago after a trip to the Philippines never fails to inspire. Operation Smile’s all volunteer medical teams work in over 60 countries around the globe and have performed over 200,000 surgeries free of charge for children who were born with a cleft lip and cleft palate or other facial deformities.

This week I will be going to La Romana in the Dominican Republic for a week to help some of these children. I am fortunate to have been a medical volunteer for Operation Smile for over 15 years….
