How Much Younger will I Look – How Long Will My Results Last?
Many people seeking a facelift wonder how much younger they will look following their procedure and how long their facelift results will last. These are both good questions, however, the answer can be complex.
In general, a facelift tends to make patients look about 10 years younger than they did prior to their procedure. A facelift, when done properly will:
*help reposition sagging tissues
*smooths creases
*create better definition in the jawline that has become slack over time
Often combined with a necklift to reduce a double chin and smooth the neckline, a facelift can rejuvenate the face. We often use facial fat grafting during a facelift procedure to naturally create long-lasting volume in the face for a more youthful appearance. In my practice, the results are beautiful and natural -never exaggerated or pulled.
Other determining factors in the facelift result are; the technique used perform the facelift, the elasticity of the patient’s skin which can vary depending on age, environmental factors, genetics, as well as bone structure.
Typically, a facelift lasts for about a decade. The skin and face will continue to age, but in general, facelift patients are going to continue to look about 10 years younger than they did prior to the procedure.
It is extremely important that patients do their part to keep their skin in the best possible shape prior to and after a facelift for best results. It has been said that the facelift is the gift, but the skin is the gift wrapping. A facelift cannot undo environmental damage, remove red or brown spots, or remove all wrinkles. Fortunately, in our practice we offer an extensive skin care program for patients who want to maintain their result. Sciton HALO, Forever Young BBL and SkinPen can all help reverse the damage to the skin caused over time. Not smoking, eating a healthy diet and using excellent skin care products are other ways in which the result can be prolonged and improved upon. The ultrasound technology of Ultherapy and the radio frequency technology of Exilis Ultra can also be used to help maintain results over time.
