The idea of a Laser FaceLift is a bit of a mystery to many. It sounds rather futuristic, and actually, it is one of the newest techniques in achieving facial rejuvenation, but it is not for everyone.
We have recently acquired the Precision TX laser for facial rejuvenation. This system is very much like our Cellulaze treatment that treats cellulite with a very small laser fiber that is side-firing and works close to the surface of the skin to break up the septae or bands that hold fat in place. In the case of facial rejuvenation, very small (think pencil lead small) incisions are made under the chin. Then a very small, side firing fiber designed specifically for facial rejuvenation, is used to remove fat from under the chin and in the neck area. The laser can also be used on the lower part of the face to smooth out the jaw area and create a smoother, more youthful facial contour.
Some of the benefits of the Precision TX laser facelift is that it does not require general anesthesia, it is a short procedure, it requires very little downtime, and scarring is minimal. Garments need to worn at night for about a week to maintain the best result. The downside of the laser face lift is that it does not address issues in the upper face or brow. It is also best for those who still have fairly good skin elasticity so that the skin is tightened following the procedure. This is a procedure that should only be performed by a board certified plastic surgeon who is experienced in facial rejuvenation and the use of lasers.
