Enhancing the size and projection of the chin, or the definition and angle of the jaw, can have a profound effect on both your facial appearance and confidence. By restoring balance and harmony to your features, chin augmentation and jaw enhancement procedures can completely rejuvenate your looks.
What is chin and jaw enhancement?
Improving specific facial features with a chin augmentation or jaw enhancement may be accomplished with surgical or non-surgical techniques. For Grand Rapids, MI patients who prefer a non-surgical approach, injections with fillers, such as Juvederm® or Radiesse, may be performed during an in-office procedure.
A fat transfer is an extremely popular surgical option. The procedure involves extracting fat from another area of the face and body via liposuction and re-injecting it into the chin and jawline to augment the area. For many patients, this surgery has replaced the need for facial implants.

Am I a candidate?
A Comprehensive, Personalized Approach
Michigan women and men of many ages and circumstances undergo cosmetic procedures to attain facial harmony. If you want to look younger and improve facial harmony by enhancing a small or recessed chin or jaw, this procedure may be right for you.
The following are some common reasons why you may want to consider chin or facial enhancement:
- You have a weak, receding chin and wish to improve the appearance of your profile by increasing the projection of your chin
- You have an undefined or weak jawline that does not help frame your face or distinguish your neck
- You wish to enhance the definition and fullness of your cheeks
- You wish to restore contour and proportion to your facial structure made deficient by aging
- You wish to correct facial deformities resulting from injury or congenital conditions
There are many alternatives that can alter the structure of your face. Dr. Ringler does not use facial implants at this time, but can achieve excellent results with dermal fillers, facial fat grafting, and liposuction.
If you are in good general health, have a positive attitude and realistic expectations, you are most likely a good candidate for this procedure.
The procedure
What to expect
Chin augmentation and jaw enhancement procedures are done in the privacy of Dr. Ringler’s Michigan office. Injectable dermal fillers may be administered under topical anesthesia during a quick and comfortable appointment. The results are immediate and will last for several months, at which point you will require a maintenance visit to preserve your new features.
If you are having fat injections performed, you will first undergo gentle liposuction under local anesthesia. The fat for the procedure can be collected anywhere on the body – including the hips, thighs, abdomen and back. Dr. Ringler will then isolate and cleanse the fat cells, before artfully injecting them into your chin and jawline.
