Beautiful Lips

shutterstock_109743647Everyone wants beautiful lips that are full, natural looking, and free from lip lines. Traditionally, wrinkles around the mouth as a result of smoking, puckering and just plain living, have been one of the more difficult areas for plastic surgeons to treat successfully. These lines are not typically corrected with a facelift or any other type of surgery.

Fortunately, there are now some new tools that we have to help treat those fine lines around the mouth, the deeper lines between the nose and corners of the mouth, and enhance the lips without the awful puffed up Hollywood lips that most women and men abhor.

For the lines between the corners of the nose and mouth, also known as marionette lines, we have good success with JuvedermBelotero and Restylane. These hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers do a nice job of softly filling in those creases for about 4-12 months.

The fine lines or puckers around the mouth are now being treated successfully in our practice with a combination of either Restylane Silk and/or Exilis Elite RF treatment. The Restylane Silk helps to plump up and soften the lines. It is also an injectable hyaluronic acid-based product. It can also add slight volume to the lips for a more youthful appearance. Exilis Elite uses radiofrequency technology to help the skin boost its own collagen production and soften lip lines. Exilis Elite is an office procedure performed by our RN that typically is completed within 30-45 minutes depending on the patient, and it requires several sessions.

When patients come to us with concerns about wrinkles around their mouth and thinning lips, we are happy to be able to offer them some technologies and solutions that really work for creating beautiful lips that are natural looking and rejuvenating.

Beautiful Lips

shutterstock37981129-1The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery statistics for 2014 indicate that more men than ever are opting for plastic surgery. This certainly has been the case for our practice at the Center for Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery.

Over the past five years, the increase in male cosmetic procedures has risen by 43% nationally, with blepharoplasty, male breast reduction and facelift being the most popular surgical procedures. For non-surgical procedures, Botox, dermal fillers, non-surgical skin tightening and Intense Pulsed Light are the most popular.

At our practice, these same trends apply, although non-surgical fat reduction procedures like CoolSculpting and Vanquish are also extremely popular with men. Non-invasive skin tightening treatments like, Ultherapy and Exilis Elite are also popular with men. Whether due time constraints from a job, or just preference, coming into the office for an hour or less for their treatments seems to fit for most men.

We have also noticed a trend that men who accompany their spouse or girlfriend for a visit to our office, often end up scheduling a consultation for themselves. Whether it is a desire to keep up with their wife’s updated look, or seeing how relatively easy many procedures are today, many men seem to be inspired.

The atmosphere of privacy and spa-like environment at the office also seem to make men feel more comfortable, not to mention the homemade chocolate chip cookies! Most men seem to feel most comfortable in an environment that is more gender neutral and not overly feminine.

As men continue to stay in the work force for longer periods of time, and, like many women, want their appearance on the outside to match how young they feel on the inside, I expect the trend of more men than ever opting for plastic surgery to continue.

If you would like more information about any of our surgical or non-surgical procedures, please call Dr. Ringler today to schedule a private consultation.
