What is Botox?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is the most common cosmetic treatment undergone by both women and men in Grand Rapids. BOTOX is a protein administered in the muscles of the forehead or crow’s feet around the eyes. Once in place, it selectively decreases muscle function and prevents the formation of wrinkling and deep lines.

In this way, BOTOX Cosmetic improves the appearance and decreases the prominence of existing frown lines, forehead furrows and crow’s feet. Injections are usually repeated every three to four months to maintain results.

Michigan BOTOX

The procedure

What to expect

Our Michigan BOTOX injections are performed during a comfortable, in-office appointment. To begin, one of our expert injectors will ask you to make a series of facial expressions so they know where to place the injections. From there, they will administer the BOTOX directly into the areas of your fine lines and wrinkles. No anesthesia is required, and you will be able to return to work and your normal daily routine right away. The entire experience will take about ten minutes.

What do I need to know about BOTOX®?

  • Results are not permanent. The treatment area will need to be reinjected every 3 to 6 months to maintain your youthful new look.
  • Common side effects include mild bruising and numbness. These effects are minimal and short in duration.
  • You should understand that all cosmetic procedures carry the potential for risks, which will be fully discussed with you during your private consultation at our Michigan office.

Am I a candidate?

If you want to look younger and improve your appearance, BOTOX may be right for you. By minimizing animation and frown lines, the treatment can correct a tired and angry expression – restoring a youthful look. In addition, Michigan men and women who suffer from migraine headaches or hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) may also consider BOTOX as a treatment option.

Headaches and Hyperhidrosis

Alternative BOTOX treatments

BOTOX has received FDA approval as a treatment for migraine headaches. If you suffer from migraine headaches, BOTOX may be of help to you. As it is not a permanent cure for migraines, the injections typically need to be repeated every three or four months. There may be a lessening or absence of symptoms while the muscles remain relaxed while the BOTOX is active.

BOTOX has also been approved as a treatment for hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating. If you are one of many Michigan men and women who are embarrassed by excessive underarm sweating, BOTOX can safely and effectively treat the problem. Typically, the injections need to be repeated about twice a year to maintain your results. For many patients, not worrying about overactive sweating does a great deal to boost their self-confidence and avoid embarrassment.
