Getting plastic surgery can be a positive, life-changing experience, if done correctly. But unfortunately, plenty of people have found out the hard way that results greatly vary from one plastic surgeon to the next. Quality workmanship comes from a well-qualified plastic surgeon that listens to your concerns and knows how to help you achieve the outcome you desire.

A Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon

There are several factors to consider before choosing a plastic surgeon. Locating a skilled doctor takes more than a simple Internet search of “plastic surgeons near me.” Dr. Steven Ringler at the Center for Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery in Grand Rapids, Michigan is known nationally and internationally for his work and achievements in the industry. As a board-certified plastic surgeon, he is part of an exclusive network allowed to offer the IDEAL IMPLANT® Structured Breast Implant. This new, innovative breast implant option uses an advanced internal structure to combine the benefits, without the drawbacks, of both silicone gel and saline implants.

To become board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, a plastic surgeon must meet certain educational, training, and professional requirements. The website www.abplasticsurgery.org states the purpose of the Board is “to establish requirements for the qualifications of applicants who request a certificate of their ability in the field of plastic surgery in its broadest sense.”

Dr. Ringler says: “I think the most important thing that any woman can do that is interested in breast augmentation, start by seeing a board-certified plastic surgeon that has extensive experience in aesthetic breast surgery and offers patients options, whether it’s silicone gel, traditional saline, or the IDEAL IMPLANT. They have options and experience to really address patients concerns and meet their needs. That’s the best way to have a good outcome for the surgery, and minimize any risks.”

A Doctor That Educates Before Undergoing Plastic Surgery

It is vital to find a plastic surgeon that will take the time to help you understand your options. If you are considering breast augmentation, you need to be aware of your choices. Dr. Ringler is dedicated to offering his patients the latest in implant technology. With the IDEAL IMPLANT, women are no longer forced to choose between the natural feel of silicone gel and the peace of mind that comes with saline.

Though Dr. Ringler is renown for his natural looking results using saline breast implants, the implants themselves are known for their less-than-natural look and feel. With the lack of any internal structure, they can behave like a water balloon if not filled properly and make the skin wrinkle or ripple. On the other hand, silicone gel implants are known for their realistic look and youthful shape, but inherently come with the risk of “silent rupture.” This occurs when sticky silicone gel leaks into the surrounding tissues of a woman’s body without her knowledge. A physical examination alone cannot determine whether a silicone gel implant has ruptured, rather an MRI scan is required.

The IDEAL IMPLANT is comprised of a series of shells nested together that hold two separate chambers filled with saline. This unique design:

  • Provides desired projection
  • Mitigates sloshing
  • Supports the implant to prevent collapse when upright
  • Reduces wrinkling and rippling
  • Allows the edge of the implant to conform to the natural curve of a woman’s chest
  • Requires no MRI scans to detect rupture with no risk of “silent rupture”

Dr. Ringler works hard to ensure his patients understand the advantages of every type of implant and what they can expect from breast augmentation surgery.

Someone That Listens

Dr. Ringler takes the time to get to know his patients, their hopes, and their concerns. He works with every one of his patients to create customized treatment plans that are tailored to help them reach their individual goals:

“I try and manage expectations by getting a really clear understanding about what the patient’s goal is, and what their expectation is. Size is a big factor. We use computer imaging to help with that. We also use external sizers and clinical photographs to help with that. Patients will occasionally bring in photos that they think look good, that they’ve downloaded, and I’ll review those with them. I think the most important thing is that the patient has a pretty good understanding about what the size and shape of the breast is going to look like, and if they need a lift or they don’t need a lift. It’s really important that they understand that. I think that if you’re really good at communicating those points with the patient, and have a long conversation about it, they’re going to be happy with the result. I have a very high level of satisfaction in my patients. Very rarely do I have a patient coming back asking for something to be revised, unless they’ve had an issue with scar tissue or implant position, which is an inherent risk of the surgery.”

Finding Plastic Surgeons Near Me

Do not settle for someone that is not committed to your success. If you are considering plastic surgery, look beyond the basic Internet search of “plastic surgeons near me.” Working with a skilled and experienced plastic surgeon makes all the difference. Dr. Ringler is devoted to providing the best plastic surgery experience possible. Considering Plastic Surgery? Discover Why Women Trust Dr. Ringler

If you think all plastic surgeons try to race potential patients toward extensive facelift surgery, think again. With today’s wide array of less invasive and highly effective cosmetic procedures available to help people look and feel younger, the opposite is often the case.

This startling insight comes from recognized Top DoctorDr. Steven L. Ringler, a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon based in Michigan with more than 25 years of experience in cosmetic and plastic surgery. Increasingly, Dr. Ringler finds himself talking younger patients in their forties and fifties out of facelift surgery. Instead, he steers them toward combining procedures such as fat grafting – which youthfully enhances facial volume – and neck lifts to tighten loose skin in this key age-defining area.

“Historically, I think patients used to wait until they were older to pursue a facelift,” Dr. Ringler explains. “But now patients tend to be more proactive. We’re seeing them get treated earlier, and surgeries and other procedures have quicker recovery times because of smaller incisions.”

“We guide them into what will offer them the best outcome,” he adds. “We try to individualize treatment.”

Factors affecting the type of cosmetic procedures a patient might need, Dr. Ringler notes, include genetics, environment, sun damage, lifestyle choices such as smoking, weight fluctuations, and skin care routine. But regardless of what combination of procedures someone chooses – or a facelift itself – Dr. Ringler often reminds them not to forget their neck area.

To tweak an old phrase, a face is not an island – and definitely not a stand-alone element when considering cosmetic changes.

“Neck lifts are often performed at the same time as other procedures, since we tend to see the face and neck as a unit and the skin on the neck often becomes looser and more wrinkled,” Dr. Ringler says. “You need to address the skin, the fat and the muscle. Not everyone has the same combination, so having a surgeon who’s used to addressing the neck and understands how to get the best contour when doing a facelift is going to get a better result.”

While a full facelift and neck lift may be perfectly appropriate for specific people of various ages, virtually all cosmetic procedures achieve better results in patients in their forties and fifties since they tend to have more elasticity to their skin, he points out. What patients don’t want is an overly tight, pulled appearance that stems from aggressive surgery.

Instead, they end up looking and feeling better with procedures such as Botox, laser treatments, facial fillers and fat grafts, or selective surgical procedures offering less downtime.

“There are a lot of good nonsurgical treatments that aren’t necessarily a substitute for a facelift but can offer good improvements that last several years or can be repeated over time,” Dr. Ringler says. “There’s some really good technology now, and it just keeps getting better.”

Considering Plastic Surgery? Discover Why Women Trust Dr. Ringler

Women no longer have to compromise beauty for security. A new type of breast implant now combines the natural feel of silicone gel, with the peace of mind of saline. The IDEAL IMPLANT® Structured Breast Implant is a technology-driven option that uses an advanced internal structure to provide all the benefits, without the drawbacks, of both saline and silicone implants. As an IDEAL IMPLANT Premier Surgeon, Dr. Steven Ringler is among an exclusive network of board-certified plastic surgeons eligible to offer the IDEAL IMPLANT.

Saline Versus Silicone Implants

Dr. Ringler strives to provide the latest in implant technology to his patients. The revolutionary design of the IDEAL IMPLANT sets it apart from other breast implant options.

Though Dr. Ringler is renown for his natural looking results using saline breast implants, the IDEAL IMPLANT offers some improvements over traditional saline implants.. With no internal support, they can lack the ability to control the movement of the saline filler, sometimes creating a less-than-natural look and feel. If not filled properly, women may also see wrinkling and rippling to the skin with saline implants. So why choose saline? Because if an implant ruptures, the body harmlessly absorbs the sterile saltwater solution, and no MRI scan is needed to detect the rupture.

Silicone gel breast implants inherently come with the risk of “silent rupture,” and require an MRI scan to detect rupture. This means silicone implants can rupture at any time without a woman knowing that sticky silicone gel is leaking into the surrounding tissues of her body. A physical examination alone cannot detect rupture, and this is why the FDA recommends women with silicone implants get an MRI every 3-4 years.. Once a silicone implant ruptures, it needs to be replaced which is a significant added expense and inconvenience for the patient.

Watch the informational video below to learn more about your breast implant options.

About the IDEAL IMPLANT

The IDEAL IMPLANT is made up of a series of implant shells nested together that hold two separate chambers filled with saline. This unique design:

  • Reduces wrinkling and rippling commonly associated with saline
  • Supports the implant when upright to prevent collapse
  • Mitigates sloshing and controls the movement of the saline throughout the implant
  • Provides a natural feel and realistic look expected with silicone gel
  • Carries no risk of “silent rupture”

Dr. Ringler says this about the IDEAL IMPLANT:

“When I first started using them, my staff that uploads my photos,  started telling me I was getting better results. I always thought I had pretty good results all along, so to find out from my employees that the IDEAL IMPLANT results were better, I started looking at them, comparing them to my saline breast augmentation that I thought were pretty good. But I think what I’ve really noticed with the IDEAL IMPLANT, is the shape of the breast is quite a bit better. Patients have had a very high level of satisfaction. I’ve not had anybody come back saying that they weren’t happy with the IDEAL IMPLANT. And now, I’m getting many patients coming in who have heard about the IDEAL IMPLANT. They’ve seen them online. They’ve heard from other patients. They’re starting to ask for the IDEAL IMPLANT by name . . . I like the shape of the IDEAL IMPLANT. I think the clinical results are better . . . Even with a silicone gel or traditional saline, I don’t think the shape in those patients is as good as with the IDEAL IMPLANT.”

Considering Your Breast Implant Options?

Patient education is very important to Dr. Ringler. He takes the time to address the concerns and answer the questions of his patients. He wants women to understand their breast implant options before undergoing breast augmentation. He says:

“When I’m talking to patients about implants, I always talk about silicone gel also. If it’s a silicone gel implant, I tell them that many surgeons are recommending replacement every 10 to 15 years. I also tell them the issues about requiring an MRI. With a traditional saline or the IDEAL IMPLANT, I tell them my 20-year data is 1.8% deflation rate. [Note: For the IDEAL IMPLANT, the seven-year data shows a 1.8% deflation rate.] So I’m an optimist, 98% don’t leak. If the implant doesn’t leak, and they’re not having problems with implant position, or scar tissue, then there’s no reason to replace the implant. Nobody can guarantee that the implants are going to last their whole life, but I have patients who’ve had saline implants in for 30 years and are doing just fine. At that point, there’s no reason to replace them, unless they’re having an issue . . . There’s not a long-term necessity to change the saline implant if they’re not having problems.”

Patient Reviews

Dr. Ringler’s patients say it best. A Google review by G I  reads: “Dr. Ringler was incredibly welcoming and friendly the entire procedure. He explained everything that he was doing and made me feel completely at ease. He is extremely knowledgeable and I was able to ask him whatever questions I had and get detailed responses that I could easily understand. I will absolutely be seeing him again!”

A review on Realself.com from SW states: “Dr Ringler and his staff are great. From his office to the surgical care facility everyone was professional and friendly. My experience with both his office and surgical care center was very positive. I would highly recommend Dr Ringler.”
