Mommy Makeover Grand Rapids, MI
Childbirth is a life changing experience for women and their bodies. The joy and wonder of a new baby is sometimes offset by feelings that your body does not look or feel as youthful as it did prior to pregnancy. Stretched or sagging skin in the abdomen or breasts that have lost volume after breastfeeding are common concerns. At the Center for Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery, we offer several surgical procedures that may be done in combination to help you regain your figure after pregnancy. Sometimes referred to as a “Mommy Makeover”, Dr. Ringler can help you restore your figure and boost your attitude with a post-pregnancy treatment plan tailored just for you. A post-pregnancy makeover can do wonders to help you look and feel like yourself again.
Whether you are one year or many past childbearing, Dr. Ringler can help you determine which of our post-pregnancy, body-restoring procedures may be right for you and your body.
What is a Post-Pregnancy Makeover?
A Post-pregnancy Makeover, sometimes known as a Mommy Makeover, typically involves one or more procedures that help women regain their figure once they have completed childbearing.
What types of procedures are included in a Post-Pregnancy Makeover?
In a personal, private consultation with Dr. Ringler, you may discuss your particular concerns regarding your post-pregnancy body. Often after childbearing there is some sagging or volume loss in the breast. Additionally, it is not uncommon to have some skin laxity or muscle weakness in the abdomen after it has been stretched by pregnancy. A personalized plan will be customized just for you to help you achieve your goals and help you restore your figure. In addition, some women like to take advantage of other non-surgical facial services to help them look and feel refreshed.
The most common procedures would include one or more of the following:
- Breast Augmentation
- Mastopexy (breast-lift)
- Breast Reduction
- Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck)
Non-surgical procedures may include:
Can procedures be performed separately or should they be performed at one time?
It is entirely up to you whether you prefer to have procedures completed at the same time. Many women prefer to have the surgery performed at one time, in order to shorten downtime and enhance their results more quickly. There is also an economic benefit from having the procedures performed together.
Who is a good candidate for a Mommy Makeover?
- Women who wish to restore their body, typically breasts and abdomen, to their pre-pregnancy shape
- Women who are realistic about what a mommy makeover can and cannot accomplish
- Women who accept the risks of a mommy makeover and their responsibilities as a patient.
- Women who have completed childbearing
- Women who are healthy, emotionally stable and secure
- Women who have someone to help them with childcare for a day or two following surgery
How soon after giving birth may I have my Mommy Makeover?
It is recommended that women not consider having a post-pregnancy makeover until at least a year after giving birth to their last child. It takes your body time to recover fully from the work of childbearing. It is advisable to wait until you have completed childbearing prior to undergoing a Mommy Makeover for maximum results.
